CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Flower shops can get pretty busy around the Mother’s Day holiday and there is an even bigger effort to get these arrangements done leading up to the special day.

Staff with Always in Bloom and Flower Gift Shop say they have been extremely busy with floral arrangements.

The company has been in business for 15 years, but the pandemic has brought many changes for its staff.

Staff members now wear face masks and protective gear to keep other workers and floral arrangements safe.

Workers with the floral shop also say in previous years, flowers might have been considered a last-minute gift for mom. But that's not the case for 2020.

“Normally what happens is, unfortunately, we get our orders later, as opposed to earlier," co-owner Donna Titus said. "This year we had just a lot of orders coming in early which is amazing so everybody is definitely thinking about mom, I mean I know they do every year, but this year I think it’s even more so because of everything going on."

Workers have to prepare more than 400 floral arrangements. The shop offers curbside and delivery services.

“When we transition from a normal business into a holiday business mode like this our people triple you know we need triple the amount of people to handle the load and handle the deliveries,” co-owner Curtis Titus said.

Delivery drivers are also following social distancing regulations by dropping orders at the doorstep of the customer and driving 10 feet away, and customers can confirm the order.

Always In Bloom is located at 5007 Everhart Road.
