ARANSAS PASS, Texas — In the City of Aransas Pass, many folks participated in their city-wide cleanup project to help fight the overwhelming issue of illegal dumping.
City workers, residents, and many volunteers gathered at the Aransas Pass City Hall and later broke out groups to attack huge piles of illegally dumped items.
Workers say enough is enough.
“Because we want our community to look nicer,” says city leader Jan Moore.
Aransas Pass Code Enforcement officers say many of these illegally dumped items can be found in residential areas of the city.
“It’s just taking pride in where we live and what we drive by every day I mean who wants to drive by and see piles of stuff everywhere,” says Aransas Pass resident Mary Gunn.
Code enforcement says these unwanted items will be hauled out of the city.
Workers who took part in the cleanup say they were able to get the job done while working hand in hand with members of the community.
“Knowing that I’m not alone and they’re not alone we’re all out here doing it as a group effort it feels more like a family thing instead of just everybody being individuals,” says resident and US veteran Ira Reeves.
