CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Search-and-rescue crews currently are looking for two people that appear to have gotten lost in the surf near Bob Hall Pier. Unfortunately, though, after searching for nearly five hours, they've seen no signs of the missing pair.

Multiple agencies including the U.S. Coast Guard, the Corpus Christi Fire Department and Nueces County Emergency Services District No. 2, were initially involved in the search, but CCFD and the county firefighters called off their search at 5 p.m.

This all started just after 1 p.m., when someone on the pier noticed the two people on a tube stranded in the water. We also spoke to a woman who witnessed the scary moments that started this search.

"There was a young couple -- a boy and a girl -- on a tube and they were here by the pier just floatin' out for like 30 minutes,” said witness Donna Burgess, who told us they appeared to be in their 20s and didn't seem to be wearing life jackets. “Then, all of a sudden, they started getting further and further and further.”

As of 6 p.m., the Coast Guard was still looking from the air, and on the water, for the missing pair. They said conditions are good today, and wouldn't hamper their efforts.

There is no information on the identities of the missing pair.
