CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The city council is scheduled to vote today on whether to collect taxes on short term rentals booked through travel sites Airbnb and Homeaway.

The taxes would be added to a guest's bill and would be paid directly to the city by the rental sites.

It could generate as much as 60 thousand dollars a month for the city.

If the vote passes, Corpus Christi will be the latest city to collect hotel occupancy taxes from those sites.
