Just like students get graded on tests, our coast is also getting a letter grade.
This is a new initiative from the Harte Research Institute.
Scientists have given the Texas Coast an overall “B” letter grade for its environmental health.
This grade is based on research and data that have been collected over the past two decades.
Scientists at the institute studied the Texas coast and looked at items like water quality, fisheries, birds, seagrass and oysters.
Their goal? To provide a report that can be useful to organizations like Texas Parks and Wildlife, the General Land Office and everyday beachgoers like you and I.
We’ll tell you what exactly these researchers found.
