Big Sandy ended Refugio’s baseball hopes with a 10-2 victory over the Bobcats early Friday morning.
The Bobcats had earlier lost Game 2 of the series Thursday night at Sweeny. The two teams then played the deciding third game 30 minutes after the first game ended. The third game ended after midnight early Friday morning.
The two Big Sandy victories enabled them to win the last two games of the best-of-3 series and advance to the Class 2A State Semifinals next week in Round Rock.

Refugio’s elimination means the Coastal Bend is down to one team in the state playoffs. Bishop will resume its game against Blanco at noon Friday after lightning postponed Thursday night’s game with a 2-2 score in the seventh inning.
