It’s been a couple of years since the last changes to the city’s charter.
That document is up for review again this year, and the process started in January.
Today, city staff will ask the council for input on how to proceed with the review.
The charter was last updated in 2016 with nine propositions passing.
Council term limits were considered last time but weren’t on the ballot.
Mayor Joe Mccomb has said he’s in favor of four-year terms for council members. Current terms are for two years.
So will term limits be part of this year’s review?
It’ll be at today’s presentation and we’ll tell you what was discussed this evening on KRIS 6 News.
While the city charter can be amended this year, historically reviews take 10-to-12 months. It means any changes wouldn’t likely be on the ballot until 2020.
