Hundreds of new live oak trees are being planted all across the city, and it’s all thanks to Hicks Family Subaru.

Today is Arbor Day. And on this day, it’s a tradition to plant trees in your community.

Hicks Family Subaru participated in the tradition and donated 700 live oak saplings to Gloria Hicks Elementary.

Students and staff spent part of the day planting the saplings to honor the Arbor Day tradition.

“We are having each student come in, fill up their pots, and then we’re planting a live oak tree that they can then take home and plant at their house to help the environment,” said Roger Moore, general manager of Hicks Family Subaru.

The Nueces County Master Gardener’s Club and the St. John Paul the Second High School Gardeners Club also helped sponsor today’s event.
