The first public hearing for one of the annexation proposals for land in San Patricio County is on today’s city council agenda, and there are a couple of surprises in today’s presentation.
Corpus Christi was looking at about 1,500 acres in the La Quinta corridor between Portland and Gregory. The updated proposal is for 1,310 acres, mostly owned by industry.
Another new twist, the service agreement for the annexation area calls for the city to provide police, fire, and EMS services to the area; KRIS 6 News previously reported the city wouldn’t provide those services in exchange for discounted property taxes on future improvements.
