After a college student was murdered this weekend after she got into the car with someone she thought was her Uber driver, questions are being raised about the safety of rideshare apps.

Samantha Josephson, a student at the University of South Carolina, was waiting for her ride home from the bar when a car pulled up, she got in thinking it was her ride, and was never heard from again. She was found about 65 miles from the place she was picked up.

With many people in town using Uber on a daily basis, how do police say you should protect yourself when using rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft?

KRIS 6 News reporter Emily Hamilton is looking into this story and will have more throughout the day on KRIS 6 News.
