New walking trails, Frisbee golf, pool renovations, and a newly constructed pavilion are just some of the upgrades that are being added to West Guth Park.

“That pavilion has about 16 tables that will be under it so that you can have your family reunions your birthday parties other get-together’s,” says City of Corpus Christi Interim Director of Parks and Recreation Becky Perrin.

Though the end result should be a thing of beauty currently sits dirt unfinished sidewalks and construction equipment at the park.

This project was supposed to be completed back in January. However, the weather has caused delays. City workers believe this construction will not hinder families coming to the park. Especially for the Easter holiday.

Folks like Chole Bonilla who go to the park frequently have to make adjustments when exercising at West Guth.

“Some of the sidewalks that we run on it’s like covered in mud so we have to run on the street which is kind like hard because there’s always cars coming, passing through and stuff so that’s like the only downside,” says Bonilla.

City of Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation officials say they anticipate to have upgrades completed by early April 2019, with weather permitting.
