Local members of the Coast Guard are stepping up to help their fellow service members.
A donation drive will be held on Saturday and Sunday to collect essential items for families impacted by the partial government shutdown.
They’re asking for non-perishable food, diapers, personal hygiene products, or even cash donations.
The drive is sponsored by the South Texas Chapter of the Coast Guard Chief Petty Officers Association.
Interested contributors can donate anytime this weekend from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the Fleet Reserve Association, 1651 Flour Bluff Drive.
