Nueces County has joined the city and the Corpus Christi Port Commission in opposition to a proposed offshore oil terminal.

Commissioners approved a resolution that opposes the Texas Gulf Terminal project.

It was proposed by the Trafigura Group and calls for a terminal 12 miles offshore to load super-tankers.

The city, the port and now the county say the terminal poses an environmental risk and could adversely affect Corpus Christi’s air attainment status.

The resolution also asks that the governor openly disapprove of the terminal project.
