Electric scooters are a fun way to travel around the town, but doctors warn that riders must be wary.

And if riders aren’t careful, they can get hurt.

Dr. James Mobley says that any injury to the head demands proper, immediate treatment. Sometimes patients could see symptoms of head trauma weeks later.

“Using a helmet when you’re riding a bicycle or a scooter or anything like that reduces the risk of a head injury by 90 percent,” Mobley said.

Dr. Nikki Nisbet with Physicians Premier says a handful of patients have come into the emergency room to get treated for minor injuries.

“Anytime that you are operating something with wheels, you’re at risk with injury,” Nisbet said.
