ROBSTOWN – Robstown officials along with State Representative Abel Herrero held a press conference and added new information about a suspected murder-suicide incident that left five people dead.

The first shooting was reported at the Retama Manor Nursing Center located in the 600 block of East Avenue J just before 7:00 p.m. Friday.

When police arrived, they discovered three people dead from gunshot wounds, one of which was the alleged shooter. Police identified the deceased shooter as 60-year-old Richard Starry.

Detectives at the Saturday press conference identified the two victims inside the nursing home as 85-year-old Ernest Starry and his wife, Thelma Montalvo.

Shortly after being called to Retama Manor, police received additional information about the scene of another shooting at a home in the Robstown area.

When police arrived at the home of Ernest Starry and Thelma Montalvo, they discovered a 13-year-old male and Montalvo’s 40-year-old son dead.

Robstown police added the shooting inside Starry and Montalvo’s home took place before the shooting at the retirement community.
