Corpus Christi Police today responded to a report of a suspicious object that was left on a bus stop bench.According to Lt. Curtis Abbott with CCPD, officers were called out to a bus stop near the intersection of Ayers and 18th Streets shortly after 3 p.m. When the responding officer arrived, he saw what appeared to be a portable gas tank with wires sticking out of it.Officers established a perimeter around the bench and called in the bomb unit, who determined the tank was not a threat.“We called our bomb unit out, they’ve inspected the tank,” Abbott said. “It’s not going to be a danger to the public, it’s a portable fuel tank that somebody had just left there on the bus bench.”Abbott said the tank was empty, but that modifications had been made to it.
