The city of Corpus Christi and CCPD have teamed up to create a new position to work closely with the LGBT community.
CCPD Senior Officer Denise Pace has been named the official LGBT police liaison.
The goal of this position is to build relationships between the police department and LGBT community, offering an open line of communication, to ask about things like safety or crime rates.
“Bridging the gap between our community and the police department and making sure that everybody in our community is comfortable with their police department,” Pace said. “Our police officers know that we’re accepting of everyone in our community.”
Pace says the position is here to stay, and CCPD looks forward to expanding its relationship with the LGBT community.
