For many, Friday marked the end of an era, as Toys R’ Us closed its last remaining retail locations nationwide, including its Corpus Christi storefront.

Back in March, as we’ve reported, the company announced that it would shut down U.S. locations after filing for bankruptcy last year. Before that, the company had been in business for 70 years.

The scene was solemn at the Airline Road storefront, where empty shelves lit by security lights could be seen through locked sliding glass doors that countless customers had once stepped through.

Now, it seems the era of Toys R’ Us has come to an end in the United States. However, some of the company’s international operations have not been affected, including those in Europe and Australia.
