Statue of Corpus Christi philanthropist stolen

Police are on the lookout for someone who stole the statue of a well known Corpus Christi philanthropist.

Employees with the Art Center of Corpus Christi reported to the police department that someone took the statue of Shirley “Sam” Fielder Durrill Friday morning.

The bronze statue used to sit next to the state of Dusty Durrill.

According to "Sam" Durrill’s obituary, she helped fund and create the Blas Maria de la Garza Falcon statue, the Miradores, benches on the seawall, Robo Trooper, the Selena Memorial, the A&M entrance project and The Del Mar Lighthouse project.

According to Gena Pena, with the Corpus Christi Police Department, said the Art Center employees are not sure when the statue was taken.

The approximate value of the bronze statue is $2,000.
