The city of Ingleside has been awarded more than $2.7 million by FEMA for debris removal following Hurricane Harvey.

The funding comes from FEMA’s Public Assistance grant program which reimburses communities for actions taken in the immediate response and during recovery from a disaster.

In the aftermath of last year’s storm, the city removed 329,627 cubic yards of debris from public rights of way. The activity included collection from rights of way as well as hauling, staging, reduction and monitoring the debris.

This grant follows a previous award of $855,000 for debris removal in Ingleside. The program requires a 10 percent non-federal match, or $402,089, bringing the total cost of the debris removal to $4 million.
