CCPD investigates South-side credit union robbery

Police are looking for a man who walked into a credit union building and demanded money.

Police say the robbery happened just after 3:35 pm Friday afternoon at the Gulf Coast Federal Credit Union in the 2600 block of Rodd Field Road on the city’s Southside.

Detectives say the man walked inside the building, demanded cash and when he left, the suspect left a package inside the building.

Police blocked the area off and called in the bomb squad to check the package the suspect left behind. CCPD Bike patrol officers are not allowing traffic that is heading along the southbound lanes that is close the building.

Police say the man is 55 to 60 years of age and was wearing eyeglasses with a black frame.

No one was injured. CCPD is at the scene.
