Border Patrol Agents in Freer seized more than 44 pounds of methamphetamine during an inspection at a Border Patrol checkpoint on Highway 59 on Saturday.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, agents conducting inspections at the checkpoint discovered the drugs hidden inside the rocker panels of a sedan.

Border Patrol says a total of 35 bundles of methamphetamine, worth an estimated $1.4 million, were seized, and one subject, a Mexican national was arrested.

CBP says the case has been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.
