Lumina Foundation names city a ‘Talent Hub.’

Posted

The Texas Workforce Commissioner is announcing Tuesday that the Lumina Foundation has named Corpus Christi a "Talent Hub."

That designation comes with a donation of $275,000 to help residents pay for college who couldn’t typically afford to go.

The goal of the Lumina Foundation is to help the workforce in local communities.

Dr. Janet Cunningham, the Executive Director for the Citizens for Educational Excellence,"It’s great to attract people from other places, and we want to do that. But we want to retain our workforce, and we want to grow our workforce, these jobs are here in Corpus Christi."

"We are so fortunate that we are one of the places around the country that has jobs," Dr. Cunningham concluded.

The Texas Workforce Commission will choose who gets help. Corpus Christi is one of six communities around the country to be named "Talent Hubs."
