It was recently reported that Chelsea’s Pub and Grill will be relocating and leaving their long-time home of Sunrise Mall.

"It’s been a lot of fun, we’ve had our ups and downs here you know," says Chelsea’s owner, George Fennema, "but it’s time to move on and start a new chapter. Chelsea’s will always live on, it’s just not gonna be here anymore."

The owners of Chelsea’s has been disappointed that Sunrise Mall has not been revitalized. But feel it’s best for their customers to carry on in a different location.

When KRIS 6 asked Sunrise Mall Property Manager, Rebecca Peralez, what’s the future look like for Sunrise Mall, "there is hope for the Sunrise Mall. It’s just coming along slowly. We are starting a project next week with, outside the Workforce so the public will see that, but as far as inside. The plans are still not there."

There was no clear answer what Sunrise Mall will look like in the near future. But, other businesses seem to be doing well in the Mall.

Right across from Chelsea’s Pub and Grill is Tac-Tx, a tactical laser tag facility complete with full arcade. Owner, Dan Wallace, brought his business from Virginia and has seen such a large increase in business, he has big plans for the summer.

"We just wanted to get established in the city, and it’s really allowed us to grow. We’ve increased month after month of being here. And actually we’ve outgrown the space and we’re going to expand to another location and stay here in the mall as well."

Sunrise Mall looks as though there is no life to it. But people want to see the place revamped, which begs the question…when will that finally happen?

To keep up with Sunrise Mall updates:

Chelsea’s Pub and Grill will have their final celebration at Sunrise Mall on Friday, June 1st. Doors will be open at their new location (Alameda & Airline, behind CVS) starting next week.

Tac-Tx will have their new location (Rodd Field) open near end of summer, their Sunrise Mall location will continue to be open.
