Corpus Christi police officers spent almost two hours looking for a lost toddler.

Police were called out to a home in the 5900 block of Ayers near Holly Road just before 1:00 pm Saturday afternoon.

When police arrived at a home, they were told by a relative a 4-year-old child had not been seen for quite some time.

Officers searched the area, and after an hour, additional police officers were called in to search for the toddler. News of the missing toddler spread around the neighborhood, and neighbors started to search the area for the missing child.

Meanwhile, police called in for a K-9 unit to help in the search for the missing four-year-old child. As minutes passed, police started opening and looking inside of locked vehicles because of the afternoon temperatures.

Officers later breathed a sigh of relief after learning the child’s mother took the child without telling another relative the child would be with her.

A police officer at the scene told KRIS 6 News they would have to follow-up the incident and get Child Protection Service investigators involved in the case.
