Police from Corpus Christi responded after two women were shot at, one of whom was injured, while driving just north of the Harbor Bridge on Highway 181.

The incident reportedly happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on HWY 181 as the victims and another vehicle passed the base of the Harbor Bridge heading north towards Portland.

Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) officials said two women were shot at by a suspect in another vehicle while driving. One of the women suffered a gunshot wound said to be non-life threatening. Police said road rage was one possible factor but noted an investigation was ongoing.

The victims then drove north to Portland, where they stopped at a convenience store near Wildcat Drive and HWY 181. They contacted Portland Police Department, who in turn contacted CCPD, since the incident happened in their jurisdiction. The injured victim was taken to a Corpus Christi hospital for treatment.

Investigators closed off a crime scene at both the convenience store and the base of the Harbor Bridge on HWY 181. KRIS 6 News photographers noted what appeared to be multiple bullet holes in the victims’ vehicle at the scene.

Police said no suspects had been apprehended at time of writing, had no further suspect information available but that an investigation was ongoing.

This is a developing story. We will provide further updates here as soon as we’re able. This story has been updated with new information from CCPD.
