A Flour Bluff man got a scare this morning after finding a rattlesnake in a neighbor’s home.

According to Nueces County Emergency Services Dist. No. 2 Chief Dale Scott, around 6am, Scott Patton was preparing to let a neighbor’s dogs out of her home off Yorktown Boulevard and Coffman Lane when he came across a rattlesnake.

It was sitting between his interior door and an exterior door that has a doggie door built into it. Scott says the rattlesnake, which came in through the doggie door, quickly coiled up and started to rattle.

Minutes later, the firefighters with Nueces County ESD No. 2 showed up and helped kill the three foot rattlesnake.

Luckily, no one was injured.

Firefighters say if you have a doggie door, it’s best to seal it at night.
