The Public Safety Division at Corpus Christi International Airport showed off their new emergency response vehicle today.

According to the airport, the brand new, custom built Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting Truck is equipped with thermal imaging capability, is equipped with tires that allow off-roading in fields and brush, and has a high reach, extendable turret that can pierce through an airplane if there is a fire inside.

CCIA says they took delivery of the truck several weeks ago, and since then, safety officers have been training on how to operate the new technology.

The ARFF truck was paid for with a grant from the Federal Aviation Administration at a 90/10 local match.

The cost of the truck was $858,390.
