Miller High School was treated this weekend for beg bugs.
Bugs were found on personal belongings in the Adaptive Education building, which is a stand-alone building on campus.
The common bed bug (Cimex lectularius) exclusively feeds on human blood and can cause itchy bites. They are not known to transmit or spread disease.
According to Corpus Christi Independent School District’s Director of Communications Leanne Winkler-Libby, a pest control crew treated the building over the weekend.
Winkler-Libby said all areas of the school have been inspected. She said the cafeteria, library, art room and dance room were also treated as a precaution. Two buses that transport adaptive education students also have been treated.
The school also posted information on theschool’s website last week that notified parents how to identify and treat bed bugs.
