Corpus Christi fire investigators are trying to determine what started a fire inside a vacant home in Annaville.

Firefighters were called out just before 4:30 pm Saturday afternoon near the intersection of  McKenzie and Up River Road. Massive plumes of smoke could be seen coming from the area.

Batt. Chief Robin McGill, with the Corpus Christi Fire Department, said,"the volume of fire what we had when we got here required us to make a defensive approach, which is all from outside."

"We did a good job of knocking down enough flames were we could get inside and make the final extinguishment," Batt. Chief McKill continued.

Investigators said the home did not have any utilities connected to the house. It took firefighters four minutes to arrive at the scene and 25 minutes to knock out the flames.

No firefighter sustained any injuries.
