Members of the Corpus Christi Police Department’s Dive Team is expecting to pull out a car that is currently underwater in the Packery Channel.
Officer Keith Strasheim, a member of the CCPD Dive Team, said the incident happened overnight Sunday morning when a couple of teens were driving down the beach in a Camero, and the vehicle went into the water.
Officer Strasheim says,"For whatever reason, they drove it off into the Packery Channel, and to my knowledge, everyone got out ok."
The Dive Team will pull the car early Monday morning because the vehicle poses a navigation boating hazard and also poses a threat to the environment.
Officer Strasheim says at the deepest point in the Packery Channel the car could be underneath 15 feet of water.
