KINGSVILLE, Texas — A batch of mosquitoes in Kingsville tested positive for the St. Louis encephalitis virus prompting a citywide spraying effort.

This is the second time now that mosquitoes with the virus have turned up here in the Coastal Bend.

This latest batch turned up on Wednesday.

And crews will be spraying for them tonight thru Monday.

Robstown also just got a second batch of mosquitoes -- in the San Pedro neighborhood that we told you about last week.

Infected mosquitoes were also found last week here in Corpus Christi.

St. Louis encephalitis can cause flu-like symptoms and in some cases it can be deadly.

So far, no one here in the Coastal Bend has been infected.
