CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — Since 1969, January has been National Blood Donor Month. It is the perfect time to honor regular donors and encourage everyone else to consider joining them.
The reminder is a timely one for the Coastal Bend Blood Center (CBBC), as they currently have an urgent need for donors – particularly, those with the blood type O+.
There are several ways to help, beginning with a visit to www.coastalbendbloodcenter.org to view various blood drive locations that happen in our area each week. Then, choose to stop by one and make a donation. You can also call the blood center at (800) 299-4943 to make an appointment to donate at their facility (209 N. Padre Island Dr.). Walk-ins are accepted as well.
Next Wednesday, Jan. 29, the CBBC will be hosting a Karaoke Night fundraiser at HardKnocks Sports Grill (5862 Everhart Rd.). Pick your favorite song and sing your heart out as you help the Blood Center save lives.
A $10 donation at the door includes a free nacho bar. There will also be drink specials, raffles, and prizes throughout the night.
