The Robstown city secretary has confirmed the Nike store will be leaving the Outlets at Corpus Christi Bay.

Herman Rodriguez says he spoke to a manager at the store who said it will be closing on Jan. 24 as part of the company's growth plan.

The city secretary said city officials were surprised by the news because they believed the Nike store was doing really well.

New Robstown mayor Gilbert Gomez said he wants to meet with the new owners of the Outlets at Corpus Christi Bay to see if there's anything the city can do to revitalize the project.

The Outlets at Corpus Christi Bay had its grand opening on March 2, 2017.

On Feb. 5, 2019, it was sold during a foreclosure auction to an Oklahoma company, Real Estate LLC.

The outlets were put up for auction because of failed payments on a $65 million dollar loan.

Real Estate LLC bought the Outlets at Corpus Christi Bay for $42 million.
