ARANSAS PASS, TEXAS — Explosives experts from Houston provided a spectacular demonstration Wednesday afternoon over at the McCampbell Airport in Aransas Pass.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives had a pretty severe purpose for this demonstration.

They want area law enforcement and first responders to have a feel from some of the dangers they could face out in the field.

ATF agents said the best way to know a threat you face is to see it in action.

Mark Wilson, who is a Special Agent in Charge at the Houston division, said, "This demonstration course we put on for the state and locals so they can recognize what they might encounter on the streets or in traffic stops or search warrants, whatever they may come across on the day to day routine."

"There are a lot more explosives out there that anyone could realize between the commercial explosives available to the oil fields and the number of IED's that are manufactured off of the recipes on the internet, Wilson continued, "They need to be aware of what they are looking at when they come across it."
