CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — This Thursday, the Nueces County Medical Society Alliance will bring a free event to two convenient locations.
‘Addiction...No One Is Immune’ is billed as an opioid addiction symposium. The presentation will feature speakers and panelists who will provide information on the topics of addiction, prevention, treatment and recovery.
Everyone is invited to attend either the 10 a.m. gathering in the Veterans Memorial High School auditorium (3750 Cimarron Blvd.) or the 7 p.m. presentation in the Church Unlimited-Rodd Field auditorium (3402 Rodd Field Rd.).
The speakers, who will each share their firsthand experience with addiction, include:
- Carlos F. Tirado, MD, Clinical Associate Professor at UT Austin Dell Medical School and President of the Texas Society of Addiction Medicine;
- Mark Kinzly, co-founder of the Texas Overdose Naloxone Initiative and Board Member of the National Harm Reduction Coalition;
- Susán Hoemke, mother, speaker and author of Healing Scarred Hearts (www.addictionimpacts.com).
There will also be a Q&A panel featuring Melissa Sweeting, Executive Director, Council of Alcohol and Drug Abuse; Alison Johnson, Director, Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation; and Amy Granberry, Vice President, Cenikor Corpus Christi.
