Free COVID-19 testing in Jim Wells County this weekend

COVID-19 testing is important in the battle against the coronavirus. Free testing will be taking place in Jim Wells County on Friday, June 5 and Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The tests will be conducted by the National Guard, the Texas Military Department, the Texas Department of Emergency Management and several other state agencies. A COVID-19 mobile test site will be across from the Alice Public Library located at 401 E. 3rd St. in Alice.

An appointment is required and anyone without one will not be seen. When calling or registering online for an appointment, you will be asked a series of questions regarding your health. If approved for testing, information will be provided to you at the time of registration in which you must then provide at your designated appointment. Time slots may be limited. A photo ID is also required.

First Responders and Healthcare Workers are able to receive testing without showing symptoms.

You will be screened to see if you have:

· Cough (Dry or Productive)

• Headaches

· Fatigue

• Nausea/vomiting/Diarrhea

· Body Aches/Muscle or Joint Pain

• Nasal Congestion

· Shortness of Breath
