CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Eight people were arrested for boating while intoxicated during the recent Operation Tres Bahias sweep targeting alcohol-related offenses on public waters by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Texas Game Wardens in Calhoun, Aransas, San Patricio, and Nueces counties led the operation, patrolling public waters where higher concentrations of boats are known or suspected to be partaking in alcohol consumption.

Wardens contacted about 140 vessels and arrested eight for Boating While Intoxicated, which is a Class B misdemeanor. In addition to the BWI’s, two of the arrests were enhanced from previous charges making one a BWI felony and the other a BWI Class A misdemeanor.

Three additional arrests were made,a second degree felony on drug-related charges, fish under a revoked license and one boating under the influence.

During Operation Tres Bahias, a boat was recovered that had been reported missing.
