CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Local Navy veteran Mike Bellipanni is getting ready to move into his 900 square-foot house in three weeks.

This facility was built by Habitat for Humanity, whose goal is to ensure everyone has a decent place to live.

What makes the funding possible? Your furniture.

"All of the money that is made off of selling these items goes into the construction of these homes," said Johnny Ray, Habitat for Humanity restore manager.

Habitat for Humanity says the best-selling items include couches, recliners and kitchen tables. Still, all donations are needed.

Now, through its recent purchase of a lot, the organization plans to add onto its community.

So, more houses and more gently used furtniture is needed to sell.

And those who donate change peoples lives, just like Bellipanni.

"Having people help you is a little uncomfortable but it was necessary," Bellipanni said. "Soon, I'll be done with all this and can get back to doing what I like to do which is help people,"

Donations are taken every Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. They'll even come to you if you're not able to drop off your donations.
