We're giving a Thumbs Up to some Dawson Elementary students who thanked their third-grade teacher Lorena Lopez by surprising her with signs in her yard for Teacher Appreciation Week.
One reads “Teachers are like pineapples -- tough on the outside, and sweet on the inside."
Another sign next to it said "Love, your third-grade class."
Lopez, who is in her 27th year of teaching, has been taking part in distance learning these past few weeks said she was happy to know that her kids appreciate all her hard work during this trying time.
"I was pleasantly surprised," she said. "It was a feeling of astonishment to see that they were so appreciative of all the hard work we've been doing. It's really challenging right now with distance learning."
