CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — This year marks the 30th anniversary for the Operation Supply Our Students initative.

Through the years, this program helps raise money and school supplies for students in the Coastal Bend who are in need.

KRIS 6 again is proud to continue as a sponsor this year.

KRIS 6 multimedia journalist and anchor Seth Kovar spoke with CCISD's Secondary School Teacher of the Year Laurel Brashers about how important it is that students start off the school year with the proper learning tools of starting.

I cannot overstate the importance of what it means to our students to be ble to have the tools that they need, in-hand, to be uccesful," she said. "I've seen it. I've seen the need, the expression on the students' faces when they realize they don't have to worry about asking their parents to provide something that, maybe, is out of reach for them."

The Port of Corpus Christi's Rosie Collin also talked about why it is important for her organization to help Coastal Bend students.
