Celebrate bird migration at the 2020 'Whooping Crane Festival'

The 24th annual Whooping Crane Festival starts this Thursday.

The Whooping Crane is one of the rarest, most endangered of cranes in the world. Birders, photographers, and outdoorsy families will be uniting to celebrate the beautiful birds.

The Whooping Crane is a migrating bird. According to the Whopping Crance Festival website, this is the time of the year that they return to their wintering habitat at the Aransas National Wildlife Refuge.

World renowned crane expert, Dr. George Archibald, Co-Founder of the International Crane Foundation, will be speaking at the four day event, along with representatives from Wood Buffalo National Park and more.

There will be boat tours, bus tours, interactive workshops, seminars, birding, a painting and wine tasting class, and a free nature-related trade show.

It all happens starting this Thursday, Feb 20 and goes until Sunday, Feb 23.

The Aransas National Wildlife Refuge is located at 1 Wildlife Cir, Austwell, TX 77950.

Public invited to veteran cemetery cleanup this Saturday

The public is invited to help cleanup a local Veterans Cemetery.

"A service project to clean up the Coastal bend State Veteran Cemetery open to all students, student orgs, friends, families, and community volunteers," their event page says.

The cleanup takes place this Saturday at the Coastal Bend State Veteran Cemetery at 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX 78410.

It starts at 8:30 a.m. and goes until noon.

Barefoot Mardi Gras Parade and Festival this weekend

The best way to celebrate Mardi Gras is barefoot.

Join thousands of party people this Saturday for the Barefoot Mardi Gras Parade and Festival.

The barefoot parade begins at 11 a.m. at Whitecap Beach and turns south toward Bob Hall Pier.

The festival lasts until 5 p.m. at Balli Park at the Brisco King Pavilion.

Admission is only $5 to enjoy live music, artists, float displays, exhibitors, free children's activities, food, drink, and more!

Lil Flip and Kirko Bangs coming to Corpus Christi

Two Texas rappers are coming to Corpus Christi to perform at a night club.

The Voodoo night club will be hosting the pair this Saturday at 317 N. Chaparral Corpus Christi, Texas 78401.

Organizers encourage attendees to dress to impress.

Only 21 and up will be allowed in.

The show starts at 9 p.m.

Lil' Flip is best known for his singles "The Way We Ball", "Game Over," and "Sunshine." Kirko Bangs is best known for his hit song, "Drink in my cup."
