The holidays are a time for giving back. That’s why we want to remind you that there are many ways to give back to your community.
One way to give back is by taking part in the 12 days of Goodwill end-of-the-year donation drive.
Goodwill has been repurposing unwanted goods for 70 years in South Texas. Instead of throwing out the things you no longer need, they will repurpose them.
Starting Wednesday, December 19 through December 31, Goodwill will be celebrating the Twelve Days of Goodwill. It is an effort to raise awareness that donations to Goodwill fuel the mission of changing lives through education, training and employment.
Twelve participants will be highlighted to share how Goodwill has supported them by providing them free job training and employment services. Together with the support of the South Texas community, Goodwill has helped more than 5,000 people this year.
Goodwill provides job training, employment placement services, and other community-based programs for people who have disabilities to enhance the dignity and quality of life for individuals and families by strengthening communities, eliminating barriers to opportunity, and helping people in need reach their full potential through learning and the power of work.
The goal is to spread holiday cheer to their donors, share success stories, and increase donations to help fund Goodwill’s programs that help our local community.
Goodwill aims to meet the needs of all job seekers, including programs for youth, seniors, Veterans, and people with disabilities, criminal backgrounds and other specialized needs.
There are so many ways to give to Goodwill without taking another hit to your wallet. Drop off gently-used clothes to any one of the convenient donation locations in the Coastal Bend area.
The profits earned from the sale of these items gives a neighbor in your community career advancement training and job placement services so they can get on a career path and create a brighter future for themselves and their families.
During the 12 Days of Goodwill, post a photo of your donation on Facebook or Instagram, tag #12daysofgoodwill, and you could be selected to receive one of twelve $25 gift cards.
The Twelve Days of Giving may end December 31, but remember, you can give to Goodwill all year long.
