CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Blood Center is fishing for donors.
That's what they're calling a blood drive going on this weekend.
Celeste Baggett described the event today with KRIS 6 Noon News Anchor Sonya Hill.
The sixth annual event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Cavender’s Boot City, 4833 S. Padre Island Dr.
Spring Break traditionally means a decline in blood donations across the Coastal Bend due to many residents going on vacations.
Blood is in constant demand as it is used to help accident and burn victims, surgeries and those being treated for a wide range of illnesses. With fishing season being a popular time of year for residents in the Coastal Bend, the Blood Center couldn't think of a better way to reach out to more donors following Spring Break.
The event will feature fun, food and lots of great prizes. All donors will receive a complimentary t-shirt, Bubba's 33 coupon and a coupon from Cavender's Boot City. Food will be provided by Jack in the Box.
It’s a fun event for a good cause.
