An apple a day keeps the doctor away, and a case of apples enables children with cancer and other diseases to attend summer camp.

Orders are now being taken for the 36th annual Six Points Kiwanis Club Apple Sale, which will benefit Driscoll Children’s Hospital patients attending Cardiology, Nephrology, Oncology and Pulmonology summer camp programs.

The event will be held Friday, Oct. 26, noon-6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 27, 8 a.m.-6 p.m. The pickup location will be the Pediatric Center Parking Lot. The cost is $45 for one case of apples (88 to 100 Red or Golden Delicious).

“The annual Apple Sale has become a great fall tradition to raise funds for our many patients who want to attend summer camps. Summer camps provide a wonderful experience for our patients with chronic illnesses to enjoy a fun summer activity away from the hospital,” said Martha Avery, Vice President of Development at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

Tickets are on sale now online at www.driscollchildrens.org/applesale or on the Driscoll campus at the Carousel Gift Shop, Cookie Connection, the Cottage Shop or the Development Office. Call 361-694-6401 for more information.
