Volunteers are needed as Corpus Christi ISD once again plans to hit the streets to help keep kids in school.

Operation K.E.Y.S. (Keep Every Youth in School) is a dropout recovery effort, in which volunteers come together to visit the homes of out-of-school youth and reconnect them with their educational opportunities.

A pre-event telephone bank will take place on Sept. 5 at the CCISD Administration Board Building (801 Leopard Street) from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Phone calls will be made to students who have not enrolled in school.

The Operation K.E.Y.S Walk is an excellent way to bring awareness to the issue of high school dropouts in our community. It is also an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the issues and roadblocks that confront many students who have left school.

The Community Walk is set for Saturday, Sept. 15 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. It will begin at Moody High School,  1818 Trojan Drive.

Register at www.ccisd.us or call (361) 878-7386 to participate in the event.
