Coastal Bend children now have a new reason to get interested in reading after 40,000 books were delivered in Corpus Christi.

Loaded on the back of an 18-wheeler and then unloaded with a forklift, the Lucha Libros event brought in tens of thousands of books for locals.

It happened over at Roy Miller High School’s gym, where everyone who walked in left with at least five free books.

The event was hosted by Corpus Christi’s chapter of the American Federation of Teachers. By the way, local teachers also got a helping hand from the project, with 25 free books to share with their students.
