CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Fire crews were called to the scene of a fire on Haven Drive near Tuloso-Midway High School.
According to police, a city employee was driving down Haven Drive when he noticed smoke coming from the back of his recycling truck. So, he pulled over, got out of his truck and noticed the load had caught fire.
The driver quickly jumped into his truck and dumped the load in order to save the truck.
The fire department arrived and has been working to put out the flames. A grappler will be picking up trash once the fire was extinguished.
Meanwhile, the city is bringing in equipment to remove the trash from the roadway.
