More rain chances this week

We got a nice treat, weather-wise, today for the first full day of fall.  Thanks to the weak front that came through the area we saw some nice sunshine and slightly drier air filter in.  Out at Corpus Christi International Airport, we bottomed out at 70 degrees this morning, but out for our inland communities they saw morning lows in the middle to upper 60s!

For tonight we’ll maintain mostly clear skies early but the clouds will eventually roll back in by the morning commute.  Lows will tumble in the lower 70s.  Not quite as cool as this morning, but still near seasonal average.  Winds will be light and variable.

Monday there will still be enough dry air in place to keep raindrops away, minus a few stray showers that develop with the heat of the day in our northeastern counties near the coast.  Highs will shoot into the lower 90s with south-southeasterly winds taking over again around 6-12 miles per hour.

For the remainder of the week, the tap of Gulf moisture will return to South Texas and humidity levels and cloud coverage will increase again along with isolated thundershowers, especially during the heating of the day beginning on Tuesday.  On Wednesday another weak frontal boundary will push into Central Texas and help unstabilize the atmosphere further and we’ll see more scattered thundershowers by Thursday afternoon. Some spots could pick up ¾ to 1.5 inches of rain.

Once the front washes out by Friday, the rain chances will slip again to isolated/stray for the end of the week and into the weekend, but they don’t completely go away.

Look for afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s and overnight lows near the middle 70s.

Have a great week!
