CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — AEP-Texas is experiencing power outages in the Flour Bluff area, affecting FBISD schools.
The school district released an updated statement on its website at 1:25 p.m. Monday saying the outage will not be resolved as quickly as it had hoped, and that parents are welcome to pick up their students.
"The districtwide power outage the District is currently experiencing is going to last longer than expected," the release begins. "Students have had lunch and are safe. However, due to the extended outage, parents can pick-up their child and it will be considered an excused absence. School release times and bus routes will run on normal schedule. Thank you for your patience and support."
The AEP website is reporting that more than 1,000 customers on that side out of town currently are without power.
The outage first was reported by the district on its website at 11:15 a.m.
